Welcome!
Here is the journal of a newlywed in her early 20's in Central Alberta, Canada. Moving to Calgary during August.
In September you will get to hear my ramblings about going to University also. I am in my 3rd year of Natural Sciences (minor: Biology and Chemistry). I switched programs after 2 years in the Education (teaching) program.
Mostly my daily happenings, as well as some articles and quotes I found interesting enough to share!
Hope you enjoy your stay, and please let me know you were here!

Im now trying to catch up on all the housework from the weekend...I promise to return later today
and do some catching up.
Just out blog hopping and found yours. I hope your wedding is everything you ever dreamed of. Stop in sometime!

Well, today is a very "blah" day.
It has been raining or overcast here for 4 days in a row. That's not very common for Central Alberta. I heard on the radio today that the Crisis Centre has been getting a lot more phone calls lately and they attribute this to the depressing weather. It's funny how much the weather can influence people. I can relate to that tho. I wouldn't say I feel depressed when it's cloudy and rainy, but I definitely notice an improvement in my mood and happiness when it is bright, sunny and warm out. I also just generally feel better when I am outdoors. I don't get out as much as I'd like to, I think next summer I'm getting an outdoors job.
Well me and my fiance (Chris) are going camping this weekend. We're leaving today after work and coming back Sunday. It should be nice. Hopefully it won't rain the whole time! Now THAT would be depressing! We're going out west to the mountains, it's always so beautiful there. We're meeting Chris's cousin and his wife and son there also. They are such a nice family. The son, Kyle is the ring bearer at our wedding, he's 7, and such a cute kid!
And so well behaved, which seems almost to be a rarity these days! David is in the army, and he is moving across the country next month (w/ his family too), so we have to get as much time in as possible with them I guess! Karen is so nice, but also loves bitching about ppl behind their backs. David can be intimidating, he's a real "man's man". Which can be very annoying. Give him a cooler full of beer and sit him in front of a TV playing sports (any team sport) and he's the happiest man alive.
I just know he's going to make us drink WAY too much this weekend. There's just no keeping up with him. I can tell already he's going to bring some hard alcohol to do shots. He almost always does.
I don't know how Karen keeps up with him! Well, she just doesn't I guess. Better question is how does she put up with him! Oh well. I know David will make us do a big hike too. Which would be fun, except he's an athlete (w/ the army, no less) and I know he'll be mocking me for being slow.
I'm so out of shape! I miss being active like when I was younger! I'm only 20 and I'm already feeling old! I guess I should just be more active. It's hard tho, to find the time. I've been so busy planning the wedding, and just busy! It seems we're never home. Oh well. I should just be thankful for what I do have! And work on what I don't.
I'm so tired. Maybe it is the weather, but I have had hardly any energy all week. My job is so boring and mundane, which doesn't help. I need something more stimulating and exciting. I won't be here much longer anyways; I'm moving to "the big city" (Calgary) in August to go to school. My other co-worker (well the only other person doing the same job as me here) has given her notice and her last day is today. She's going to go work on a farm, which she is so excited about. I find that funny, she's such a farm girl, but when you look at her, she is such a barbie doll! She's also the most immature 40 yr old that I know, and she's the first to admit it. I don't think that's something to be proud of, but to each her own. I don't know if I'll miss her or not. I already do most of the work anyways! She is fun to talk to tho, which I'll miss. I wonder how long until she is replaced? Our Manager doesn't seem to have anyone lined up to take her place, like she usually does. Summer is the slow time here, but who's going to do my job when I'm not here?? Oh well, it's not really my problem. I have given up caring about this company, and they don't care about us anyway.
Well, now I have to stress about the wedding. We still don't have an emcee (MC)! Chris wants two of his cousins from his dad's side, but there are 7 of them that are sisters and he doesn't know who to ask. I keep telling him to talk to his aunt (their mom) to figure out who would be best, but he just keeps procrastinating. We don't even have any speeches prepared, and the people that have to give speeches don't want to! Is it possible to just not do the speech thing?!
I'd like the speeches, but if no one wants to do them....I can't for them! Our reply date is today for our invitations, but our family and friends are all slackers apparently when it comes to sending reply cards! Stupid people...
Guess we'll have to be making some phone calls next week.
I've been having so many dreams about the wedding. It's driving me crazy! I just want the day to come and then go! I'm very excited for it, don't get me wrong, I'm just sick of being stressed out about it!
Ack! I was just talking to one of my bridesmaids online (she's in Calgary) and she said she got beat up last night. Her and 2 of her friends went to a restaraunt in China town, and didn't leave enough money on the table, and when they left, the owner grabbed her by her hair, threw her down, and kicked and punched her in the face and head.
He then stole her purse, and when she tried to get it back, he punched her in the face a few more times. She said she tried to fight back, but she is a girl, and she had a broken hand from a previous accident. I couldn't believe it! That is so scary. Sure makes me want to move down there. The police didn't even care, because the man said she attacked first, and he was defending his property. Stupid cops...how is a grown man beating up a young girl OK?
Anyways, I have to get back to doing nothing at work. Kara: I hope you recover quickly!
