Welcome!
Here is the journal of a newlywed in her early 20's in Central Alberta, Canada. Moving to Calgary during August.
In September you will get to hear my ramblings about going to University also. I am in my 3rd year of Natural Sciences (minor: Biology and Chemistry). I switched programs after 2 years in the Education (teaching) program.
Mostly my daily happenings, as well as some articles and quotes I found interesting enough to share!
Hope you enjoy your stay, and please let me know you were here!

Im now trying to catch up on all the housework from the weekend...I promise to return later today
and do some catching up.
Just out blog hopping and found yours. I hope your wedding is everything you ever dreamed of. Stop in sometime!

Last night we had a very severe storm here. It was actually worse outside of town. I got to drive home in it. The rain was driving so hard, and it was so windy, and the sky was black (except when lightning lit it up) that I could hardly see anything. The streets were flooding too, and many were closed due to the flooding. I heard on the radio this morning we got over 2 inches of rain in one hour! It was scary, yet I was so excited! I just love storms so much! My adrenaline was just pumping!
As soon as I pulled up to our apartment, it started hailing too, but only pea-sized hail. Apparentley, in the small towns around our area, they got golfball-sized hail. Trees were torn down, windows broken, siding and shingles ripped off, just a mess was made! And the storm only lasted about an hour and a half! Crazy! I'm just glad there were no tornados.
Well, I have to comment on the latest terrorist happenings. I was not shocked at all to learn that these terrorists were planning another attack, I am surprised a little that it was from London, England to the USA. I thought they would have chosen a more subtle area to come from. But I guess that would then ensure there are both Americans and British on the planes. My mom is flying to Vancouver from Calgary today, and has had to prepare a lot differently to fly (for the carry-on restrictions). I guess it is for everyone's safety. And just because we're Canadian, does not mean we are off the radar. As we learned from the terrorist ring broken up in Toronto (the Toronto 17) not too long ago. The attack seemed very well-planned, and I am just glad the perpetrators were caught, before they could follow through. The only thing that worries me, is I'm sure there were more people involved than the authorities know about, and these people will still want to attack.
Reading an article about the Khadr family http://www.macleans.ca/topstories/canada/article.jsp?content=20060807_131499_131499 sent chills down my spine. It is really scary to think about what could happen. I wonder if this is how my parent's generation felt during the Cold War? I don't feel that I'm personally in danger, but I'm scared for the innocent people that could (will?) get hurt or killed. The area that Chris and I are moving to in Calgary is mostly Arab/Muslim, with a mosque not far from us. I don't want to be prejudiced, but I'm finding it very difficult not to be right now. I know most muslims are probably normal people who don't hate the western nations, yet how can you know the difference between them and the ones who do hate us? (Such as the Khadr family). It is a tricky line, that I'm going to have to get used to I guess, since I'll be living it.
I heard on the radio today there was a survey done in Washington (not sure if it was the state or the city), they were asking people what year the 9/11 attacks occured. 40% didn't know!!!!
I couldn't believe it! How complacent and ignorant people are. This is one thing that is never far from my mind, and I'm not even American. They figure that the people who were planning the attacks from London, were also involved in planning the 9/11 attacks. How can people forget this? They just make it too easy for the terrorists.
Anyways, I should go. I'm interested to hear other people's opinion on this matter. It's Chris's birthday today, so I have to focus on more positive things!
and have a great w/e too happy birthday to chris
have a safe and healthy summer my friend.
