Welcome!
Here is the journal of a newlywed in her early 20's in Central Alberta, Canada. Moving to Calgary during August.
In September you will get to hear my ramblings about going to University also. I am in my 3rd year of Natural Sciences (minor: Biology and Chemistry). I switched programs after 2 years in the Education (teaching) program.
Mostly my daily happenings, as well as some articles and quotes I found interesting enough to share!
Hope you enjoy your stay, and please let me know you were here!

Just out blog hopping and found yours. I hope your wedding is everything you ever dreamed of. Stop in sometime!
Well, I had my first day of orientation today at the University of Calgary. I think I was more nervous about taking the C-Train to school than anything! I couldn't get over the morning rush-hour also! Not something I'm used to... I'm from a city of just over 80,000 people, and Calgary is over a million people. I couldn't find a good parking spot at the train station either. Over 800 stalls, and they were all taken by 8:20 this morning. Note to self: Leave earlier! I think I may try to figure out which bus near me goes to the train station so I don't even have to drive there and worry about parking. Anyways, I miraculously got on the right train and made it to the University (on the other side of the city). I was just so thrilled that I made it there okay! Then I realized I had no idea where to go from there... Luckily there was a big crowd of students that also just got off the train, so I stayed with the crowd and followed the signs to the orientation. I made it! I got my little info package, and then we had to sit within our faculty, which was marked off on the chairs. I have a strategy to meet new people: I look for someone about my age, dressed similar to me, who looks just as lost as me, and sit next to them. I know I'm closed minded sometimes when it comes to meeting new people... but it works. So I sat next to this girl, looked through my various brochures, and struck up a conversation. Her name was Michelle (my middle name), and she was really nice. We got along better than I could've hoped for! So my second goal of the day (the first was just to make it there, on time) was acheived. I had been determined not to spend the whole day walking around alone. She's a math major, but within the faculty of science. Anyways, the introduction for us "transfer" students in the gym was really annoying. It seemed like a mock prep-ralley for the school. And they made everyone give off this mock patriotism for this school, that we're all equally new too and unfamiliar with. It was really stupid. No wonder I always skipped prep-ralleys in high school! Michelle and I had seperate seminars to go to, but met up again for lunch. She's been living in Calgary her whole life, so had a lot to tell me about living in the city, which was appreciated. We then went on a campus tour. So disorganized! There were two student leaders for a group of about 20 of us. One was a girl in her 4th year of Chemistry, and she looked like she was about 13 or 14 years old, and didn't have much of a presence or loud voice. A poor choice I thought to lead a group in a loud and crowded school. She was nice and quite informative though. And the guy with her just seemed to be a tag-along. The tour seemed really random, but it was sort of useful. I'm going to give myself a tour tomorrow and figure out where all my classes are and labs. I'm not to worried about getting lost, it doesn't seem to hard to figure out, and all my classes are on the same end of campus. I'm a little worried about some of my courses. Like Chem and Math I haven't taken since grade 11. I hope it comes back to me! I'm not afraid to ask for help though. Anyways, I had an exciting day. Learned how to use the train, learned my way around campus, met someone new, it was fun! I'm interested to see what the university is really like once classes start.
Chris is staying in Red Deer tonight at his parent's house, he has a lot of work to do up there today and again tomorrow and didn't want to drive back and forth both days. It's our first night away from each other since... well I can't even remember since when. It's strange, but kind of nice too...
Peace and Quiet!
