Well I've been in University for 2 weeks  now. My how time flies! I'm already so far behind in my math course, it's calculus. If anyone is strong in this area, any help would be greatly appreciated! LOL! I'm really struggling here, as I haven't taken math 30 (high school algebra) since grade 11, 4 years ago. And they expect u to know everything from Math 30 still. I wish I took Math 31 in high school, as well as Advanced Placement (or IB) Chemistry. I guess that's stuff u don't learn until you're in University though, and when you're in high school, of course you "know everything!" I was smart enough to take it, but I was lazy and cared more about getting drunk or high, so I took as little as possible in high school. And now I'm paying for it. Fun. Well, not so much.

Besids that... I'm only taking 4 classes this semester, and I'm glad, I don't think I could handle 5. They're all 1st year classes, and I'm techincally in my 3rd year, but math and chem are going to kill me!

By the way, the stangest thing happened in my Chem Class last Thursday. This girl that was 2 rows directly in front of me, cried the whole class. Seriously. It was so strange! I was so distracted by her... and the teacher just kept on like nothing was wrong.... I felt so bad for her, but there was nothing ( i felt) that I could do for her. She was white (like me) and quite overweight. She just cried and wimpered the whole class, which is 75 min's long. There is about 450 or so students in that class, and the whole left side could hear and/or see her crying! It was so bizarre! The whole class! I felt I should do something, since no one else would, but I had a Lab immediately after that class, so I couldn't stick around... I feel so bad for her. And I feel even worse that no one else stook around for her (I watched), and I even thought she might commit suicide this weekend. I'm not sure why I thought such a horrible thing, but it just enterted my mind, and it wouldn't surprise me if it really happened. If I see her Tuesday in class, I promise, I'm going to stop her or sit next to her, and make sure she's OK. I just feel so bad. If I was crying, I would just leave class, but she didn't for some reason. And she could care less about embarrassment. I need to talk to her.

Funny you should mention that - I called my nephew about something on Friday and he couldnt come to the phone cause he was helping a friend with their Calculus! I had to make sure I had the right Kyle and the right house! LOL.

(actually hes a pretty smart kid but I have to give him a hard time ya know? ;-))

Hopefully you can sit that girl down and have a few words with her - strange how nobody even acknowledged that she was crying..ESPECIALLY the instructor.

Well if youre looking for interesting little places to explore in Cowtown B take hubby down to Kensington one Sunday (just North of the river between 10th and 14th Streets NW. kinda preppy but lots of coffee shops and little stores to explore (my favorite is a little mexican retailer called Manannas).

Eau Claire Market is great too - on the edge of downtown it has everything; shopping, dining and entertainment.

Lots to see in Cowtown - heck theres even places I havent been yet.... ;-)

i know how you feel about getting behind - hope you find a way to get back on the calculus wagon!! That sounds very hard, that girl crying in a lecture hall of 300 people - something must have been going very wrong for her. i hope you do get a chance to talk to her, and kudos to you for the having the kindness to think about it!

i'm doing well, happy w/ LeBoy (yup, rocky start, but we're cruising pretty smoothly now). I started my practicum at Family Services, a facility that provides programs for disadvantaged families. It's very interesting, because lots of the parents are CHOOSING to take parenting classes, and leaving their kids with us while they do. Good for them!! I think everyone should be required to take parenting classes. I'm a little behind in my reading and in a lil' bit of trouble for missing classes during my booze-fest, but i think i'm pretty much on track.
